Rainbow Warehouse is a 100% lesbian-owned business, operated by Dr Louise Titcombe. Louise was a research scientist prior to commencing the business. According to Louise, "Attending gay & lesbian pride festivals around the country is a lot more fun than science conferences!"
Louise has been actively involved in numerous GLBTI community organizations since coming out in NW Tasmania in the mid-eighties. She has held numerous positions including Co-founder and Convenor of the Geelong Lesbian Group, Board Member of Pride March Victoria Inc, regional representative on the Victorian Rural GLBTI Network and Co-convenor of GAIN (Geelong’s All-Inclusive Network). Louise was also a committee member of the RSPCA Geelong Branch & member of the Board of the Geelong Animal Welfare Society.
The idea for the business came about after we went to Mardi Gras for the first time in 1998 and wanted to buy heaps of rainbow merchandise to celebrate our first trip to Mardi Gras! We ended up coming home with only a $25 t-shirt each! We thought that there must be a lot of people in our community like us who were looking for good quality rainbow merchandise & so the idea for the business grew from there.
Over summer in 2001 we went to the major events in Victoria & to Mardi Gras in NSW to test the response to our products. We had a fantastic response so we then launched the next phases of the business which was selling Rainbow products by Party Plan and wholesale to selected retail outlets around Australia.
Rainbow Parties have been hugely successful and are great fun. We conduct Parties Australia-wide and are currently recruiting Rainbow Party Consultants to join our team. Click here for more information about Hosting a Rainbow Party.
